International Research Series Debuts in '08

Posted 12/18/07

In October, the Foundation approved funding for an “international series” of studies. Due to the success of the 2005 Foundation study, Breaking Down Great Walls of China, the Foundation will deliver four papers throughout 2008 (one every two months) on the following countries: India, Brazil, Hispanic Latin America, and Mexico.

Included in these studies will be considerations of the respective international leasing market, including its market size; key differences from U.S. leasing, including structural, tax, legal, accounting and cultural issues; risk management; and current developments. The papers also will describe establishing a financing company in each country, from approval and licenses to staffing and systems. Transparency issues, risk considerations, and other factors will be explored. The goal is for each paper to bring all the issues and opportunities to light so equipment finance companies may gain a basic understanding of what it is like to do business in that country.

Forecasts will cover each study as it is developed and available to industry members. As with all Foundation products, these studies are free to donors, and will carry a charge for non-donors.
