The annual State of the Industry (SOI) Report is widely considered the most important equipment leasing and finance-related report for the industry. This year’s report will debut in October. The SOI combines analyses of ELA’s 2006 Survey of Industry Activity (2005 data), independent research and government data, with interviews with key industry executives in all major industry segments to provide a comprehensive picture of the industry in the near-term.
The 2006 State of the Industry Report focuses on a number of topics critical to the industry including leasing and finance companies facing a growing customer demand for offshore capabilities. The increasing globalization of the US economy is creating demand for lessors to offer global financing solutions even for small customers.
The 2006 SOI also will address the industry’s image. Bad press over the past several years has created a negative perception of leasing among some customers. While independents appear to be the most affected, banks and captives must also work to help reverse public perception.
Additionally, the report will address how the industry seeks to increase the overall size of the leasing market. Growth in investment in business equipment has not exceeded 10 percent in the past five years. Over the same period, many lessors announced double-digit growth goals. Industry leaders share strategies for growing the total market versus battling competitors for share in the SOI.
The report will be available for download from the Foundation library in October at www.Leasefoundation.org/soirpt06.htm.
